Vökufélagið is an association working to promote folk arts activities, and to build a vibrant, inclusive folk arts community in Iceland.
Folk arts traditions include music, song, dance, handcrafts, poetry, storytelling, drama, etc. They are constantly evolving, and by keeping the inheritance of previous generations alive, they simultaneously celebrate both past and present.
Vökufélagið members work on a variety of activities throughout the year. The association’s annual flagship event is the Vaka Folk Festival, which will be held in Reykjavík, 13th - 15th September 2024.
